This month our friend and star of ABC’s Gardening Australia television program, Costa Georgiadis, wrote a piece in the ABC Gardening Australia Magazine on the fantastic work that our EnviroMentors are doing engaging young students in environmental education.

Our EnviroMentors program is Australia’s leading mobile, incursion based and interactive, environmental education program for schools. Previously known as Waste Watchers, EnviroMentors is offered as a service to assist Councils, ROC’s and other host organisations in educating their communities on a wide range of local environmental issues.

Costa, recently visited Newington Public School with our EnviroMentors to deliver our ‘Schoolyard Harvest’ module. The gardening guru was a big hit with the students and was delighted with the module’s focus on gardening being a sustainable activity for all.

“EnviroMentors makes it fun, they capture the kids’ imaginations and get them thinking with their hands, eyes, ears and ultimately their mouths. It’s practical and it works,” Costa Georgiadis said.

“What I like most about it is that it’s putting a vocabulary, visual and hands-on connection to the kids and the world around them.”
