VOLUNTEER? GROUP LEADER? COUNCIL OR INDUSTRY EXPERT? JOIN THE BLUE STAR SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS JUDGING PANEL
Are you involved in keeping NSW Beautiful? We want your voice on the judging panel of the Blue Star Sustainability Awards, our program that recognises environmental achievements throughout NSW. We celebrate the people in communities across the state who are rolling up their sleeves and pitching in to make a real difference.
We are seeking expressions of interest from community members, volunteers, and industry experts to help us judge the 2017 Blue Star awards.
WHO ARE THE JUDGES?
Every category in the Blue Stars will be judged – online – by one industry expert and two experienced community members.
Signing up to be a judge will not make you ineligible to enter your own projects in the awards. If you are from Regional NSW we will allocate you the metropolitan entries from your selected category. If you are from a metropolitan area you will judge submissions from regional applicants.
An industry expert is someone with plenty of knowledge and experience from working in an associated field to their assigned Awards category. This does not have to be paid work. An industry expert might work for local government, advocacy groups, relevant businesses or corporations, and more.
Our Community member judges will be people with experience, passion and knowledge in the category field. You do not have to be working or volunteering in this area at present. You may have entered the awards in the past, be involved in your own sustainability or environment groups, or more.
A few more notes about the judging process
• The judging process takes place during 1 – 31 July 2017. Judges will be sent up to 40 entries to evaluate via our online judging system. (Internet access is a must).
• As a judge you are required to provide written feedback for each entry – overall comments, positive features of the submission, and areas the applicant could have improved.
• It will take approximately 20-30 minutes to evaluate each entry and provide feedback.
THIS SOUNDS LIKE ME. HOW DO I SIGN UP?
If you would like to be involved take a look at the awards categories for those which would best suit your expertise and interest.
Then please send your category choices and a brief (2-4 sentences) outline as to why you would be an excellent judge in your chosen categories to the Blue Star Awards email account.
We can’t wait to hear from you!
